I have always had a weird obsession with names. I don't know what it is. When I was younger, I always loved naming my baby dolls and literally at about age 8 or 9 started keeping lists of what I wanted to name my own kids when I grew up. I love getting online and looking at the top baby names of the year when the list comes out, love looking at baby name books.
It's weird I know, but I love names. I've always said, if there was some kind of job that dealt with names, I would love that job. Working at Learning Express was pretty close, getting to hear so many kids' names and taking so many personalization orders. Haha.
I randomly write down all the names I like at random times like sitting in class, when I'm bored on car rides, etc. Well, now I'm bored and putting off school work, so I've decided to make a list here in my blog. And yes, I realize this may not be interesting for anyone but myself. That's okay! You don't have to read it.
Let me start off by saying that I love family and double names. I think it's that part of me that loves all things Gone with the Wind and Old South. Also, for girls I like different names. Not crazy, out there names like "Apple" or "Suri", just not the normal "Ashley" or "Brittany."
All of that being said, here is my list of girl names (hyphens mean double names):
Miller-Kate
This is my all-time favorite name and no one else likes it haha. My last name is Miller and I've always wanted a little girl named from my maiden name. I think the Kate just adds an extra little bit of cuteness and girliness to it.
Mary-Lauren
This is also named for myself. Haha. My middle name is Lauren and like I said, I just can't get enough of double names.
Hope
This name has no real significance except that it is from the Bible and I think it's just beautiful. It's simple, but it has such meaning to it. Along these lines, I also like the name Grace.
Vivien (call her Vivi)
This name has no significance either. I just think it's adorable and slightly old-fashioned.
Everlee
I just recently saw this name somewhere and fell in love. Both of my parents' middle names are Lee so I've always wanted to somehow name one of my kids after them. I think this could become one of my top names.
Sarah Sophia (Sophia)
I realize that this name does not really go together, but I love how it sounds, anyways. I feel like it's so different that it works. Neither Sarah or Sophia have any significance, I just like them.
Brooklyn
I just started liking this name. I think it's different and cute, but it also doesn't have any significance either.
Deason
This is my grandmother on my mom's side's maiden name. I think it would make a good middle name for a girl or a boy or a cute first name for a girl.
I also like almost any other double name that is not as common as Mary-Katherine. I like Anna-Grace, Mary-And Any Family Name, Anna-Hope, and the list goes on.
For boys, I'm not really as picky. I don't want my boys' names to be extremely different. I realized recently that I kind-of like traditional, "solid" names for boys.
Here are some possibilities for boys:
Nathaniel Lee (Nate)
Like I said earlier, both of my parents' middle names are Lee so this is after them obviously.
Thomas Lee
Once again, got the Lee for my parents and then my grandfather, a cousin and my brother all have the middle name Thomas so I feel almost obligated to use it. I like it though.
Benjamin Thomas (Ben)
Benjamin is no where in my family that I know of, I just like the name Ben. And again, there's Thomas.
William Thomas (Will or William)
Again, I just like William and Thomas is a family name.
As you can see, I'm really not particular about boys' names. I have a few that I like and want to use and I'm willing to switch them around.
You might be wondering why I didn't put any middle names with the girls's names (actually no one is probably even reading this, much less wondering, but I want to say anyways) and I don't really know why. I feel like you can mix and match a lot of nicknames and so I'll just pick them out later.
Well, those are the names that I like. Oh, and by the way, I do NOT want that many children! Those are just possibilities. I want 3 or 4 kids. Probably 3.
If anyone did read this post, I would love your comments. I don't care if you love them or hate them. You can be honest. Most people hate my names haha so I am used to it. Or just comment with some names you like. I would LOVE to read them. Even if I don't know you and you just randomly saw this post- I want to hear your names!
Have a great Wednesday!

Eleanor Renee (Ella). I've loved this name since about 4th grade (after reading Ella Enchanted), but now I don't want to use it because way too many girls are name Ella. Dang it. oh yeah, and someone in my family was named Eleanor...
ReplyDeleteThomas Lee sounds like an old Civil War general type name haha. Perfect for you with the old South feel. I'm not a huge fan of the name Vivien. For some reason it makes me think of the word "vixen". I know, weird. If you use Deason, I think it should be for a boy.
Hope you like your comments =)
I love Eleanor. You could call her Elle or Ella or Eleanor. Yeah, I see what you mean about Thomas Lee haha. Well, don't worry, I'm sure I won't end up using Vivien. I actually probably won't end up using any of these girl names haha.
ReplyDeleteEw I just noticed I said "are name Ella". Are NAMED Ella. Sorry, I had to correct that.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I did not notice, but even if I had, I know you know your grammar haha.
